MNPS Jamshedpur champions renewable energy with rooftop solar panel system

Jamshedpur: In a remarkable initiative to promote sustainable energy and environmental consciousness, Motilal Nehru Public School ( MNPS) dedicated a state-of-the-art rooftop solar panel system on the occasion of World Environment Day. The school, known for its commitment to environmental awareness, took this significant step towards renewable energy to create a greener and cleaner future.

Taking a small step towards achieving the aim of UN sustainable development goal no. 7 , i.e. Affordable and Clean Energy, the school inaugurated a rooftop Solar panel system. The solar panels were inaugurated by chairman V S Rana and secretary Dr D P Shukla and Rabi Dubey.

SDG 7 calls for ensuring universal access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy. This includes improving energy efficiency, increasing the share of renewables and further diversifying the energy mix while ensuring affordability of energy for citizens.

The solar panel system will cater to the school's electricity needs by converting solar energy into electric energy. A quiz on the theme of solar energy and solar panels was conducted by Aniket Das of XB. A

Pledge was also conducted by Auric Deb of class X . Sreya Paul of the same class delivered a speech to mark the significance of this day. Students of junior school made bird feeders with great enthusiasm and excitement. They also promised to provide drinking water to birds and stray animals.

MNPS is committed to reducing carbon footprints to ensure a safer and greener world. The programme held this morning was coordinated by K Jaishree, co-ordinator Poornima Tripathy, teacher Malti, teacher Anindita and teacher Savitri.

During the ceremony, students delivered informative presentations on solar energy and its benefits for the environment. They emphasized the importance of renewable energy sources in combating climate change and preserving natural resources. The students also showcased innovative projects they had undertaken as part of their environmental studies, highlighting their dedication to creating a sustainable future.
